Location: Bangalore

Business & Team:

Enterprise Services (ES) is responsible for the world leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing, an essential component of great customer service.

You will be leading engineers who are part of different software delivery teams for Lending & Integrated Channels Technology to achieve their strategic objectives through planning, prioritising, delivering and supporting projects and initiatives. Your team s success will be realised through partnering with business and IT teams across both Lending & Integrated Channels business domain and Technology to deliver beautiful experiences and exceptional capabilities to our branch applications

Lead a high performing team of engineers, responsible for resourcing, delivery and technical quality. Drive key strategic initiatives, providing technical thought leadership and vision across the engineering community.

You will contribute to the financial well-being of our customers by ensuring that our team builds the best solutions possible using modern development practices that ensure both functional and non-functional needs are met.

Reporting lines:

You will report to the Tech Executive of Lending & Integrated Channels Technology. Your reporting line will be comprised of Software, QA and Systems Engineers varying in experience from recent graduates to seasoned Lead, Specialist, and Principal Engineers.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • People management and practice leadership across multiple teams in different regions.
  • Recruitment, induction and retention of high quality software engineers.
  • Work closely with delivery leadership to ensure that appropriately team members are assigned and the skills mix meets current and predicted needs.
  • Mentor and support career development for engineers.
  • Contributes to technology and manages strategic implementation across teams.
  • Technical ownership of key assets, including roadmaps and technical direction.
  • Ensures that technical delivery processes are tuned for quality and efficiency.
  • Provide advice to portfolio executives and delivery teams on how to best organise technical delivery.
  • Sets and drives the agenda for key strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with various architecture, infrastructure and service management leaders.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience: 15+ years of industry experience as a full-stack engineer with fairly good experience in leading people and teams.
  • Development Methodologies: MVC with .NET Core and .NET Framework, REST APIs, Microservices, streaming platforms like Kafka.
  • Test Automation: Unit/Integration/Acceptance testing experience with Selenium (Selenium not required not for DOTi). Experience with NFT tools like JMeter and Security Tools like Checkmarx/Zap etc.
  • Frontend Technologies (not required for DOTi): HTML5, CSS and Javascript. Also one of the JS frameworks - either Angular (for CommSee) or React (for Digi Lending)
  • Programming Languages: C# with good knowledge of OOPS concepts and design patterns. Any Java knowledge is good to have (for DOTi).
  • CI/CD: Any Git tool for source control. Build tools like TeamCity or Jenkins and experience with deployment tooling like Octopus or similar. Proficient knowledge of Dockers and Kubernetes.
  • Databases: Either of the relational databases like MSSQL / Oracle. Also any No-SQL database like MongoDB etc.
  • Monitoring: Familiarization with Splunk or a similar monitoring tool and performance tooling like AppDynamics.
  • Cloud: Proficiency in either of Cloud providers, preferably AWS or Azure.
  • Soft skills: Excellent communication skills. Working experience with Agile methodologies.

Education Qualifications:

Bachelor s degree/master s degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
