Our Team, Publishing Systems
News UK is one of the United Kingdom's largest news publishers, with significant print and digital
operations across The Sun, The Times, The Sunday Times, Dow Jones and Wireless group.
The Publishing Systems Team, based in London and Bangalore, are responsible for managing and
enhancing Enterprise-level systems and applications across commercial operations, editorial
content creation and publishing, and print site manufacturing.
Work Experience:
- Around 2 to 5 years of experience in Java, JavaScript (JS), XML, Linux and Bash Scripting,
CircleCI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Software Development: Contribute to the development and maintenance of software
applications using Java, JavaScript, XML, and related technologies.
- Scripting & Automation: Utilize Linux and Bash scripting to automate tasks and streamline
processes.
- Continuous Integration (CI): Work with CircleCI for managing automated build, test, and
deployment pipelines.
- Version Control: Collaborate with the team using Git to manage code repositories and
track changes.
- Agile Methodologies: Participate in Scrum or Kanban frameworks to ensure smooth and
efficient project deliveries.
- Problem Solving: Identify challenges, suggest improvements, and troubleshoot issues
efficiently.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related
field.
Experience in Java, JavaScript, XML.
Knowledge of Linux, Bash, PowerShell,Windows/DOS scripting.
Familiarity with CircleCI or similar CI/CD tools.
Understanding of front-end technologies like JSP, CSS and XSLT.
Experience with version control tools such as Git.
- Automation: Ability to understand project workflows and automate day-to-day tasks to
improve efficiency.
Soft Skills:
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective
collaboration within teams and with stakeholders.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and build
positive working relationships.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing project needs.
