What Application Development & Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health

Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.
Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance and enhancements of existing applications.

  • Applies comprehensive knowledge and a thorough understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks and projects
  • May contribute to the development of policies and procedures
  • Works on complex projects of large scope
  • Develops technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
  • Solutions are innovative and consistent with organization objectives
  • Completes work independently receives general guidance on new projects
  • Work reviewed for purpose of meeting objectives
  • May act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience, preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • Experience on an Agile team following DevSecOps methodologies
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Willingness to provide constructive feedback on team processes
  • Ability to collaborate across roles and pitch in when there are gaps
  • Experience working in secure healthcare environments, aware of HIPAA, SOC2, HITRUST controls and auditing procedures
  • Demonstrate and apply technical knowledge of software development frameworks
  • Read and comprehend story cards to develop solutions based on intended outcomes
  • Strong Angular/front end development framework experience (required)
  • Experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, SQL databases and RESTful APIs (secondary to Angular)
  • Ability to move their code through environments with quality and operational efficiency in mind
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms like GCP (preferred) or AWS
  • Experience with cloud native technology and processes, including CI/CD pipelines and supporting technologies like Cloud Foundry, Concourse, Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Willingness to learn new things and expand their skillset
