Job Description
Design Engineer - Electrical, Buildings
We invite you to bring your Electrical System experience into play as you will be Designing electrical systems on projects to Studio Ardete and its Clients, in coordination with Architects and structural consultants, for all stages; i.e concept, schematic, detailed design, tender & construction.
To succeed in this role you must have minimum B.Tech/ M.Tech, preferably Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering with 3 to 6 years of professional experience in the relevant field.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you shall be responsible for the design and delivery of all electrical and associated ELV systems of a wide range of projects in the building services. Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
Undertake electrical systems design, predominantly for building projects, including but not limited to MV and LV power systems, normal & emergency lighting systems, earthing & lightning protection systems, fire alarm and life safety systems, ICT, security systems and other ELV systems. To include preparation and delivery of design layouts, schematics, calculations, reports and specification from concept to tender design.
Support for conducting primary technical reviews on design deliverables related to electrical system design.
Preparation of load estimation for the project, including coordination with other disciplines and third party for electrical load and other requirements.
Assist to lead/senior Architect's/Designer's for space planning, report and preliminary calculations during concept design stage.
Provide electrical engineering technical support and engage personally where required to successfully enable Local Authorities approvals on all projects.
Forecast, plan and manage own workload and progress against agreed plan and criteria.
Evaluate and advise to lead/senior Architect's/Designer's on electrical related design changes to ensure change management.
Strong attention to detail, team working, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
Ensure to follow QA/QC procedures in the projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
BE Electrical with 3 6 years of professional experience.
Proven track record in building services design with different types of sectors, including high rise, commercial, residential, retail, healthcare, industrial, educational, refurbishment, etc.
Proven record as a Project Engineer on several projects.
Experienced in working within teams on multi-disciplinary projects and interacting with a wide range of architectural, engineering and planning disciplines.
Knowledge of electrical engineering principles for LV, Lighting, ELV and FA/FLS design.
System overview knowledge of buildings mechanical and public health systems.
Experienced in electrical design to BS-EN, NEC, CIBSE, NFPA standards.
Proven ability to carry out both manual and computer aided calculations, problem solving, technical analyses, etc.
Proficient in LV power system modelling and analysis software such as lighting software, Lightning Protection and generator sizing.
Knowledge and experience of AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit would be recommended.
Knowledge of BIM automation / digitalisation techniques and standards.
Awareness of sustainable design practices and technologies, preferably having worked on LEED certified projects.
