Component platform lead is responsible for planning and development-cycle of creative and cost-effective life-extension solutions to assure source of supply. The life-extension solution may encompass designing out end-of-life/obsolete piece parts, re-design of Electrical & Electronic components to extend the life of legacy system, supplier selection & re-sourcing, and may involve defining repair options of older parts.
- Develop platform/product roadmap and sustainment plans
- Understand the system/ application use of Legacy Electrical and Electronic components
- Support the development of requirements, technical designs, DFMEA and DVP&R.
- Develop new component working with suppliers based on the understanding of hardware / software knowledge
- Validate and release new component, or variants in partnership with system & validation teams
- Prepare complete schedules for assigned projects and support project execution.
- Apply systematic problem-solving skills to define issues, identify root causes, develop, qualify, and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Monitor product quality and identify quality improvement opportunities
- Identify, execute, and track cost reduction opportunities per product
- Support for product certification and regulation
- Lead team meetings by establishing an agenda, monitoring discussion to insure adherence to agenda, promoting a free exchange of ideas, challenging the pre-conception of team members, finishing the meeting in a timely fashion and publishing meeting minutes
Required Skills
- Good understanding on the component development lifecycle / NPI process /CPI Process.
- Knowledge on regulation standards like RoHS, REACH
- Sound knowledge on Environmental & EMC validations.
- Obsolescence management best practices
- Proactive approach towards obsolescence
- Strong result-oriented person
- Demonstrate critical thinking to take appropriate risk and make sound and timely decisions.
- Strong customer focus and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people
- Must be willing to work in US shift timing to have enough overlap with US-based process partners and product groups
