We are seeking an experienced Electrochemist to lead our efforts in CO2 reduction and conversion into ethylene, with a specific focus on electrochemical cell design and catalyst optimisation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Electrochemical catalyst synthesis cell design for CO2 reduction:
- Design and develop high-efficiency electrochemical cells for the reduction of CO2 to ethylene.
- Optimise cell configurations to enhance ethylene production rates and overall process efficiency.
- Conduct performance testing and iterative improvements of electrochemical cells.
- Catalyst Optimisation:
- Develop and optimise catalysts to maximise selectivity and yield of ethylene from CO2 reduction.
- Conduct experimental research to evaluate catalyst performance and stability under various conditions.
- Collaborate with computational chemists to model and predict catalyst behaviour and performance.
- Process Optimisation:
- Optimise reaction conditions such as temperature, pressure, and electrolyte composition to achieve maximum ethylene yield.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the energy efficiency and overall performance of the CO2 conversion process.
- Analyse experimental data to identify key parameters affecting CO2 conversion efficiency and ethylene selectivity.
Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and researchers.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in electrochemical CO2 reduction technologies and incorporate best practices into our R&D efforts.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaboration and Integration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including materials scientists, process engineers, and renewable energy specialists.
- Integrate renewable energy sources into the electrochemical process to ensure a sustainable and efficient operation.
- Coordinate with external partners and suppliers for materials and equipment sourcing.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, Electrochemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrochemical CO2 reduction and conversion processes, with a focus on ethylene production.
- Strong background in electrochemical cell design, catalyst development, and optimisation.
- Proven track record of successful project management and process optimisation in a research or industrial setting.
- Proficiency in electrochemical analysis techniques and process simulation software (e.g., COMSOL, Aspen Plus).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with renewable energy integration and energy storage solutions.
- Knowledge of techno-economic analysis and cost optimisation strategies.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards related to chemical processing.
