We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to lead the design and development of electrical systems for lithium-ion battery packs. This role is critical in ensuring the performance, safety, and reliability of battery packs for applications including electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and more. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation in electrical design and project management, with expertise in battery technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Design Leadership:
- Lead the electrical design of lithium-ion battery packs, prioritizing performance, safety, and reliability for diverse applications.
- Oversee design aspects such as schematics, layouts, and components, including cells, wiring harnesses, busbars, and connectors.
Circuit Design and Analysis:
- Design and optimize circuits for battery management and safety, with current and voltage monitoring, thermal management, and fault detection capabilities.
- Conduct simulations and analyses to validate circuits and ensure adherence to performance and safety standards.
Component Selection and Integration:
- Select and integrate electrical components (e.g., relays, fuses, contactors, sensors) for battery packs.
- Collaborate on seamless integration with mechanical, thermal, and software systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with mechanical, thermal, software, and Battery Management System (BMS) teams to ensure cohesive system design.
- Partner with suppliers, manufacturing, and quality teams for effective implementation.
Design Validation and Testing:
- Develop and execute test plans, validation protocols, and functional testing for electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards (e.g., ISO, IEC, UL).
System Integration and Troubleshooting:
- Oversee system integration, ensuring compatibility with subsystems.
- Identify and resolve technical issues, guiding the team through testing and validation.
Project Management and Delivery:
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, aligning design efforts with product roadmaps.
- Coordinate with R&D to ensure milestone alignment with company objectives.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Document designs, including schematics, layouts, BOMs, and technical specifications.
- Ensure designs meet regulatory and safety standards for lithium-ion batteries.
Mandatory Skills:
- Electrical Design Expertise: Proficiency in circuit design, PCB layout, and battery pack architecture.
- Battery Pack Knowledge: Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery chemistry, configuration, and performance.
- Component Selection & Integration: Experienced in selecting and integrating electrical components with BMS and thermal systems.
- Simulation and Analysis Tools: Proficient in tools such as SPICE, PLECS, and MATLAB/Simulink.
- Safety Standards Knowledge: Familiar with ISO 26262, UL 1973, IEC 62619, and safety protocols.
- System Troubleshooting: Skilled in real-time testing and debugging during system integration.
- Project Management: Proven ability to lead projects, with strong organizational skills.
- CAD Tools Proficiency: Expertise in Altium Designer, OrCAD, and AutoCAD Electrical.
- Thermal Management Insight: Basic understanding of thermal impact on electrical design.
