Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Educational Counselor to join our institution's counseling team. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in educational counseling, providing guidance and support to students in their academic and personal development. The Educational Counselor will play a pivotal role in assisting students in making informed decisions about their educational paths, setting achievable goals, and ensuring their overall success.
Responsibilities:
- Student Guidance: Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to students to help them understand their academic strengths, interests, and career aspirations. Assist them in selecting appropriate courses, majors, and career pathways.
- Academic Planning: Collaborate with students to develop personalized academic plans, taking into consideration their academic history, strengths, and weaknesses. Help students set realistic goals and create strategies to achieve them.
- Career Counseling: Offer guidance on potential career paths based on students interests, skills, and goals. Provide information about various professions, industries, and the job market trends.
- College Selection: Assist students in researching and selecting suitable colleges, universities, or educational programs that align with their academic and career objectives. Provide information on admission requirements and application processes.
- Application Support: Support students throughout the college application process, including helping them write effective application essays, preparing for interviews, and submitting required documents.
- Personal Development: Address students personal challenges that may impact their academic progress, such as time management, stress, and study skills. Offer strategies to improve overall well-being and success.
- Workshops and Seminars: Develop and deliver workshops, seminars, and presentations on various educational and career-related topics to help students make informed decisions.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, academic plans, and student progress. Prepare reports as needed for internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay Updated: Stay current with trends in education, career opportunities, and counseling techniques to provide the most up-to-date guidance to students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in educational counseling or a related field.
- Strong understanding of academic pathways, college admission processes, and career development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Empathetic and patient approach to counseling, with the ability to address students emotional and academic needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with counseling software and tools is a plus.
