Job Description


As a Duty Doctor, also known as a Resident Medical Officer (RMO), you will be responsible for providing medical care and support to patients within a healthcare facility, typically in a hospital setting. You will work under the supervision of senior medical staff and play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and safety of patients during your shifts.


Qualifications and Requirements


Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized medical school or university.

  • Valid medical license or registration to practice medicine in the jurisdiction where the healthcare facility is located.

  • Completion of a rotating internship or residency program in a hospital setting, with hands-on clinical experience across various specialties.

  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of medical principles, practices, and standards of care.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically with patients, families, and colleagues.

  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the staffing schedule.

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, staying updated on medical advancements, guidelines, and best practices.

  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required, depending on the healthcare facility and specialty area.


Key Responsibilities


Provide medical care and treatment to patients admitted to the hospital, including emergency cases, inpatients, and outpatients.

  • Conduct initial assessments and examinations of patients, including taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests.

  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions, prescribing medications, treatments, and therapies as necessary.

  • Monitor patients progress and response to treatment, adjusting care plans and interventions as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.

  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and code blue situations, providing advanced life support and resuscitation as required.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including nurses, specialists, and support staff, to coordinate patient care and facilitate multidisciplinary rounds.

  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing information, education, and emotional support regarding medical conditions, treatment options, and prognosis.

  • Document all patient encounters, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

  • Adhere to established protocols, policies, and procedures for patient care, infection control, medication management, and safety standards.

  • Participate in departmental meetings, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care delivery and clinical outcomes.
