The Data Test and Activation Engineer is responsible for provisioning support and guidance to IP service customers as well as organizations within AT&T. Data Test and Activation Engineer have a high level of skills on WAN technologies, customer router solutions, backbone device configurations, and tools and systems that support the end-to-end WAN circuits. The Data Test and Activation Engineer directs all troubleshooting actions and works with telco, customer, and internal AT&T teams to resolve all issues to customer satisfaction.
Roles And Responsibilities
The major responsibilities/skill sets represented in these functions are: providing provisioning support and guidance to customers, representing customer requirements throughout a project.
- Coordinate with and interact as an advocate to the vendor to resolve technical issues as well as troubleshoot with vendors, customers, and peers, and perform root cause analysis.
- Implement changes to new or existing products and features and will need to have the skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures.

Technical Skills and Expertise
- Requires good knowledge of Tier 1 ISP's Routing Policies (WAN experience) as well as Network design, Routing, DNS, IP Subneting, TCP/IP protocol,(BGP, OSFP, RIP, and EIGRP) Security: NAT Configuration, Firewalls, Telecommunications.
- Good knowledge of (OCX, T3, fractional T3, T1's and fractional T1, ATM, and Frame Relay, Voice Over-IP). Hardware (Routers, CSU/DSU, bridges, multiplexers, servers and switches configuration).
Job specific skills
- Solid experience in : TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, MPLS, routing & switching protocols.
- CCNA certified with minimum 3.5 years experience in networking technologies.
- For this position candidates should possess excellent verbal communication skills and proficient writing ability.
