Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Director of US Accounting to oversee our financial operations and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, audits, and compliance in alignment with US GAAP. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical accounting expertise, leadership skills, and a proven track record in process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
- Perform detailed analysis of financial performance, identifying trends and key insights to support executive decision-making.
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and preparation of pro forma financial models to guide business planning.
Accounting Policies and Compliance
- Develop, implement, and enforce accounting policies to ensure accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, adapting practices to align with policy changes.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance if applicable.
Audit and Internal Controls
- Lead and coordinate the annual external audit, collaborating with auditors and ensuring timely completion.
- Conduct internal audits to verify financial accuracy, mitigate risks, and ensure data integrity.
- Address and resolve audit findings and implement corrective actions as needed.
Team Leadership
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, setting goals and performance expectations.
- Promote a collaborative environment and foster team development through training and skill-building initiatives.
Cash Flow and Treasury Management
- Oversee cash flow management, ensuring adequate liquidity and optimizing cash reserves.
- Establish and maintain strong banking relationships and ensure effective treasury operations.
Financial Planning and Strategic Support
- Work with finance and executive teams to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
- Provide recommendations to improve financial performance, operational efficiency, and profitability.
Systems and Process Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements within the finance function, emphasizing automation and scalability.
- Lead the implementation and optimization of accounting software and other financial tools.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Comprehensive understanding of US GAAP and experience with financial reporting and compliance.
- Experience with external audits and internal audit functions, including SOX compliance if applicable.
- Proven ability to manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes.
- Excellent leadership skills with a history of mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and advanced Microsoft Excel, Google sheets skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
