Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15 years of experience in software engineering and management roles.
  • Experience with AI and BI concepts, technologies, and industry trends (BigQuery, Looker, data warehousing, machine learning, etc.).
  • Experience in leading the development and delivery of software systems in the cloud environment.
  • Experience in translating business objectives into technological roadmaps and execution plans.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience fostering a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate large engineering teams.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and making data-driven decisions under uncertainty.
  • Track record of successful cross-functional leadership in complex matrixed organizations.
  • Success in setting strategic direction, influencing key stakeholders, and driving results.

In this role, you will lead a large team of engineers building next-generation products and features within our Cloud AI+BI portfolio of projects including Looker, Looker Studio, and BigQuery. Your charter as India Team Lead will include the strategic area of BI Unification across Looker and Looker Studio, Looker and Looker Studio Admin, Data Prep and Connectivity, and Enterprise Capabilities. You will also serve as a site lead for Cloud AI+BI, including cross-functional stakeholders across PM, UX, and TPM functions, building the culture and relationships within this important and growing site for Google.

Responsibilities

  • Craft and articulate a compelling technological vision for your organization within Cloud AI+BI. Align team's goals and initiatives with broader Google Cloud objectives and market trends.
  • Mentor teams on complex architectural decisions, promote the best practice adoption, and ensure scalable, reliable engineering solutions. Maintain awareness of cutting-edge technologies in AI, BI fields.
  • Build a highly-skilled team by focusing on hiring, talent development, and fostering an inclusive and supportive culture. Mentor and develop other engineering managers within your team.
  • Partner strategically with product management, UX, TPM and other stakeholders, and establish effective communication and execution mechanisms to ensure cross-team alignment. Represent engineering interests and perspectives in high-level decision-making.
  • Shape the culture of the Cloud AI+BI India site. Drive key initiatives, manage site-level budgets and resources.
