Job Summary:
The Director of Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytics will lead the development and execution of the organization's BI strategy with a focus on modernization, automation, and long-term innovation. This leader will be responsible for transforming the analytics function, building scalable, high-performance data pipelines, and setting a future vision that integrates AI and machine learning (ML) into business processes.
The successful candidate will work at both the strategic and tactical levels, from defining long-term analytics and AI strategies to hands-on evaluation of current architectures, processes, and reporting pipelines. They will act as a thought leader in business analytics, data-driven decision-making, and will ensure data quality, accessibility, and efficiency to enable high-impact business insights across the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Define and drive the long-term strategy for the company's BI and analytics function, with a roadmap for existing platform and new platforms.
- Develop a future vision for data analytics and reporting capabilities, ensuring alignment with business goals, trends, and technological advancements.
- Lead a team & build the ability to present data in a simple & concise manner. Drive actionable insights using different sources viz GA, GTM, internal database, Google ads, Bing ads, HubSpot, Mailchimp, GSC etc. in a comprehensive & cohesive manner.
- Partner with key stakeholders, including executives, to translate business needs into analytical solutions and data strategies.
- Promote a data-driven culture, advocating for the strategic use of data insights to drive decision-making across the organization.
- Use of the AI/ML models & close interaction with the data engineering team on how we use the evolving technologies to improve our data gathering, synthesis & analysis.
Tactical Execution:
- Evaluate and assess the current analytics landscape (data infrastructure, pipelines, reporting systems, tools, and processes) to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead the modernization of BI platforms, including transitioning from legacy systems to scalable, cloud-based solutions that improve data accessibility and performance.
- Optimize and automate reporting pipelines, leveraging modern tools and techniques to enable real-time data insights and reduce manual interventions.
- Ensure that data governance frameworks are robust, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Create data attribution models best suited for the business, drive on collection of various data points from different sources and help in building analysis on the data.
- Automation of the existing data infrastructure to eliminate or minimize human interactions.
Team Management & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of BI professionals, data engineers, and analysts.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages continuous learning, growth, and experimentation with new tools and technologies.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors, cross functional teams and technology partners, ensuring tools and platforms meet the company's evolving BI and analytics needs.
Performance & KPIs:
- Track and report on the success of BI and analytics initiatives, developing KPIs to measure impact and continuously refine strategies for improved product performance and customer experiences
- Monitor and ensure data quality, consistency, and timeliness, ensuring that the analytics infrastructure supports the business in making fast, reliable decisions.
- Developing business level KPIs and departmental level KPIs is important for monitoring the current & future product performance. Creation of user journeys, funnels, segmentation of users.
- Ability to define the thresholds and acceptance criteria for each KPIs and compare the results.
- Conduct A/B or multivariant testing and result analysis of the test conducted to help us optimize the outcome.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer science, Masters in Data analytics or MBA preferred.
- 12+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or related roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
- Proven track record in defining and executing data and analytics strategies that align with overall business objectives.
- Extensive experience in synthesizing large data sets from various sources, combining and synthesizing them to drive analytical outcomes.
- Extensive experience in BI tools and platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik) and data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
- Strong technical background with expertise in ETL processes, data pipelines, and modern cloud-based architectures.
- Familiarity with SQL, Python, R, and other relevant languages or tools for data manipulation and analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into clear and actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and team management skills, with a proven ability to mentor, motivate, and inspire a diverse team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in agile environments.
- Preferable prior experience in Ecommerce industry or SaaS platforms.
- Prior experience in driving digital transformation initiatives in large organizations.
