JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Lawyer to join our global legal team. An ideal candidate will have work experience as in house lawyer/firm in managing legal aspects of intellectual property law (patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets), IP portfolio management along with knowledge of corporate laws.
This is role based in India where the candidate will lead the global IP domain from legal and report directly to the General Counsel.
RESPONSIBILITIES -
IP Management & Documentation:
- Development of IP management strategies including brand protection, IP portfolio management and governance in collaboration with cross functional teams across jurisdictions;
- Management of intellectual property portfolio of the organization by identifying new opportunities for expansion and renewal of existing uses of intellectual property;
- Review of IPR documentation and applications; Provide IP related trainings to junior members and cross functional teams in the organization.
IP Litigation & Disputes:
- Administration of IP cases;
- Working with external law firms on prosecution;
- Cost- Benefit analysis of ongoing and upcoming IP litigation and filing;
- Management & tracking of all upcoming action dates etc.;
- Dealing with matters pertaining to Infringement of Intellectual Property, litigation etc.
Stakeholder Management:
- Management of internal and external stakeholders;
- Management of team for IP in the organisation.
- Collaboration with cross functional teams for project management, contractual dispute resolution, training etc;
- Work with domestic and international law firms for IP related work in India as well as other jurisdictions.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Masters/bachelor's degree in law or equivalent; Specialisation in IPR.
- 12-15 years of experience in IPR, preferably a law firm catering to international clients or having worked in an in-house team of as part of IP team.
Desired:
- Experience in managing IP portfolio and knowledge of International IP Treaties
- Experience in R&D, automotive or manufacturing sectors
- Strong understanding of Indian IPR laws with exposure of International Treaties on IP.
Role Specific Qualifications:
- Bachelor/Master of Laws
- IP specific certifications from India and abroad
