So, what's the role all about

As a Data Reliability Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the availability, performance, and reliability of our organization's data infrastructure and systems. You will collaborate closely with data engineers, data scientists, software engineers, and other cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain data pipelines, databases, and related infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on creating and maintaining a robust and scalable data platform that supports the organization's data needs.

How will you make an impact

  • **System Architecture and Design**: Collaborate with data engineering and software development teams to design and implement data systems, ensuring scalability, high availability, and reliability.
  • **Data Pipeline Management**: Develop and maintain data pipelines that collect, process, and move data between various systems, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • **Database Management**: Manage database systems, including configuration, performance optimization, backup and recovery, and data integrity.
  • **Monitoring and Alerting**: Implement monitoring solutions to proactively identify and address potential issues. Set up alerts and notifications to ensure timely responses to system anomalies.
  • **Performance Optimization**: Identify performance bottlenecks in data systems and work to optimize query performance, data processing, and overall system efficiency.
  • **Incident Management**: Respond to and resolve data infrastructure incidents, minimizing downtime and data loss. Participate in on-call rotations as needed.
  • **Automation and Tooling**: Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline operational tasks, deployments, and infrastructure provisioning.
  • **Security and Compliance**: Implement security best practices to protect sensitive data. Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy and security regulations.
  • **Collaboration**: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, provide technical expertise, and ensure data solutions meet the needs of various stakeholders.
  • **Documentation**: Create and maintain documentation for data infrastructure, processes, and best practices.
  • **Continuous Improvement**: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends. Identify opportunities for process and technology improvements and drive their implementation.

Have you got what it takes

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience 2 to 4 yrs
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer, Database Administrator, or similar role, with a focus on data reliability and system performance.
  • Strong expertise in data pipeline tools and technologies such as Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Airflow, etc.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with database systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and their relevant data services.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, etc.).
  • Understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Operate without needing close guidance on tasks.

You will have an advantage if you also have:

  • Java/C#/Python/Powershell
  • Jenkins
  • GitHub / Github Actions
  • AWS / Azure
  • SQL (Must be able to query data in multiple systems efficiently)
  • CI/CD toolsets
  • Building and supporting Data pipelines
  • Troubleshooting data flows from end to end
  • Kafka/streaming data
  • Snowflake
  • Supporting data lakes
  • Grafana / Prometheus
