Job Summary: The Medical Equipment Engineer will be responsible for researching, designing, coordinating, and improving medical devices used in our clinics and hospitals. This role involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop new products, enhance existing devices, ensure compliance with regulations, and provide ongoing support and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities (KRA):
1. Research and Development:
Conduct research to identify opportunities for new medical device development or improvements to existing devices.
Design and conceptualize innovative solutions for Panchakarma therapy stations, mechanical automation equipment, and other medical devices.
2. Prototype Development and Testing:
Coordinate the development of prototypes and oversee testing to evaluate performance, reliability, and effectiveness.
Collaborate with internal teams and outsourced designers/manufacturers to ensure prototypes meet quality standards and specifications.
3. Product Optimization and Enhancement:
Improve existing medical devices to enhance cost efficiency, optimize performance, and meet evolving healthcare needs.
Identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation in the market through continuous improvement initiatives.
4. Maintenance and Support:
Provide regular maintenance and support for medical devices installed in clinics and hospitals.
Troubleshoot issues, perform repairs, and ensure uninterrupted operation of equipment to support patient care.
5. Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards governing the design, manufacturing, and use of medical devices.
Collaborate with regulatory affairs teams to obtain necessary certifications and approvals for new products and modifications.
6. Cross-functional Collaboration:
Liaise with internal teams such as R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, and clinical operations to align priorities and optimize processes.
Build relationships with external partners, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to drive collaboration and achieve project objectives.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
1. Product Development Cycle Time: Time taken from concept to commercialization of new medical devices or product enhancements.
2. Prototype Performance: Evaluation of prototype performance based on predefined criteria and benchmarks.
3. Device Reliability: Measurement of device uptime, mean time between failures, and maintenance intervals.
4. Cost Efficiency: Reduction in manufacturing costs or total cost of ownership for medical devices.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Electrical knowledge is a plus.
Diploma holders with relevant experience are also welcome.
4 to 8 years of experience in similar roles, preferably in the medical devices industry.
Strong technical skills in mechanical and electrical systems, including motors and automation equipment.
Good communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
Passion for innovation and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team.
