GITAM - JD - Engineer Maker Space - BLR
Roles & Responsibilities:
The Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Mentor Innovators: Guide and support the community of innovators in designing and building prototypes/products, providing technical expertise and feedback.
- Assist in Product/Prototype Development: Collaborate with coaches and venture teams to streamline the product development process, ensuring efficient and effective progression from concept to prototype.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work with various departments and schools within the university to impart maker skills, fostering a vibrant and collaborative maker community.
- Inventory Management: Identify user needs and manage the inventory of makerspace consumables and equipment, ensuring timely upkeep, replenishment, and upgrading of resources.
- Safety Training: Train students in operating machinery with standard safety procedures, ensuring safe practices during innovative product development.
- Technological Vigilance: Stay updated with the latest technological developments in product development, incorporating new techniques and tools into the incubation center's practices.
- Hands-on Equipment Usage: Demonstrate expertise in using sensors, microprocessors, power tools, and other product development equipment, providing practical training and support to innovators.
- Product/Prototype Development: Build and refine mechanical and electronic prototypes, ensuring functional and scalable product designs.
- Community Engagement: Actively engage with the maker community, organising workshops, seminars, and events to promote innovation and collaboration within the incubation centre.
Skills Required:
- A B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Engineering with a minimum of 1-3 years of industry experience.
- Proficiency in using Electrical and Electronic Systems Development.
- Experience with machining operations using power tools.
- Hands-on experience in product/prototype development
- Strong mentoring and coaching abilities.
- Knowledge of standard safety procedures in machinery operation.
- Effective interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Inventory management experience.
- Awareness of the latest technological developments in product development.
- Ability to engage with the maker community through workshops and events.
