The design engineer will be responsible for designing and developing the Inlet air filter and its components. Apply engineering principles and use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed design, analyze and test prototypes and oversee the manufacturing process. Their role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, production and quality assurance to ensure that design will meet functional requirements and industry standards.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Review of enquiry documents along with process and mechanical data sheets, terms and condition
- Design and develop mechanical systems, sheet metal components and products according to project requirements and specifications.
- Utilize CAD software to create 2D and 3D models, drawings, and assembly layouts.
- Conduct feasibility studies and perform calculations to ensure the technical feasibility and viability of designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, production, logistics and quality assurance to optimize design based on feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct design reviews and participate in problem-solving activities to address design issues and improve product performance.
- Perform structural analysis, simulations and testing to validate and optimize designs.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation including design specifications, bills of materials, fabrication drawings, inspection & test plan, transportation drawing, installation, operation and maintenance manual.
- Support the manufacturing process by providing technical guidance, troubleshooting design-related issues and assisting in process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with suppliers and fabricators to select appropriate materials, components and equipment for the design to comply product requirements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations and safety guidelines throughout the design process.
- Participate in design validation activities such as prototyping, testing and analysis of results.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
Technical Knowledge:
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor.
- Understanding of general engineering practices, mechanics and materials.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes specially sheet metal fabrication and techniques.
- Awareness of emerging technologies and trends in mechanical engineering.
Design and Engineering Skills:
- Ability to conceptualize and create innovative designs to meet specific requirements.
- Ability to read and understand specifications and accordingly design air filter
- Aptitude for problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Strong analytical skills to assess design feasibility and performance.
- Structural design and analysis is an added advantage
- Proficiency in performing engineering calculations and simulations.
- Ability to interpret analysis results and make design improvements accordingly.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and software tools.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas and technical information effectively.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including other engineers, technicians and project managers.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment.
- Capability to present and explain design concepts to clients or stakeholders.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree or Diploma in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in mechanical design engineering preferably in air filter industries or sheet metal fabrication.
- Brief knowledge of standards related to air filter
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor and other design tools.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes and regulations.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision in design work.
- Ability to manage multiple task simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment.

- Required daily to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, and see (specific close vision abilities are required to perform computer work).
- Required occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Required regularly to travel (usually by air or road so may be required to sit for extended periods), specifically to support other sites referenced in this description. Travel approximately 10-20%.
- Required daily to use hands and fingers and arms to reach (to operate a computer and telephone).
- Required occasionally to lift and/or move objects that are light to moderate.
