The selected candidate will join the Design and Development (D&D) team on a journey to develop and deliver robust and reliable PLC, HMI and Microcontroller programs for monitoring and controlling automated sterilization equipment, ovens, incubators, etc. The engineer will make sure that the programs developed allow the equipment to operate effectively and efficiently.
Duties & Responsibilities
Development of efficient and reliable PLC and HMI programs used to control and run automated laboratory equipment.
Complete all programming projects (PLC control logic, HMI screens, etc) accurately and in a timely manner.
Coordinate development of microcontroller programs as well as SCADA software.
Design PLC programs and logic as per equipment's functional specifications and process flow ensuring accurate operations.
Analyse root causes of bugs in programs and develop adequate solutions.
Assist with on-site installation, qualification and troubleshooting, as needed.
Proactively work on the enhancement of programming standards.
Prepare and maintain a list of Inputs and Outputs to the control system for all equipment configurations.
Prepare and maintain flow charts and logic diagrams for control system processes of all equipment.
Coordinate with the Quality Control team and rectify programs along with the equipment during the development phase.
Coordinate with and guide the Customer Service team with troubleshooting program/software issues during installation or operation of the equipment.
Communicate, coordinate and follow up with vendors outsourced for program and software development over the phone, emails and in-person.
Assist team with industrial automation instrument selection like sensors, actuators, motors, pneumatic system etc.
Coordinate third party vendors and assist to resolve technical issues
Required Knowledge & Experience
Expert in electrical theory, instrumentation, control components (like sensors, valves, pumps, motors, compressors, VFDs, etc.) and automation.
Knowledge of SCADA architecture.
At least 2-5 years experience in PLC programming
Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens PLCs is an advantage.
Experience with Siemens, Rockwell, Misubishi, Weintek HMI programming is an advantage.
Ability to program in multiple languages, including ladder logic, structured text and VB scripting.
Ability to read and interpret PLC wiring diagrams, Control Narratives and P&ID Drawings
Ability to thrive in a team environment
Experience on pharmaceutical machinery projects will be a big advantage.
Experience with 21 CFR software is an advantage.
Experience with IPC integration and programming is an advantage.
Ability to lead projects and deliver solutions independently.
Familiarity with using Google Docs and Spreadsheets is a big advantage.
Ability to write well-structured emails.
Ability to explain problems in simple and understandable words.

Education and Experience
Masters / Bachelor degree in Instrumentation, Electrical or equivalent engineering field preferred.
PLC programming certifications preferred.
PLC programming or Automation field projects will be beneficial.
