Position Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Consultant to lead the design, optimization, and business modeling of rooftop solar PV systems across multiple sites in 7 provinces in Sri Lanka. The ideal candidate will be proficient in PVSyst analysis, electrical system design, process improvement, and developing business models to ensure project viability and profitability. This is a key role in a large-scale project, and the candidate will work closely with various teams to ensure successful implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Solar PV System Design:
- Conduct detailed PVSyst simulations and analysis to optimize system performance, structural analysis.
- Design and develop rooftop solar PV systems, ensuring compliance with local regulations and industry
- standards.
- Optimize system layout, including module placement, string configuration, and shading analysis.
- Drive innovation to meet investor expectations
2. Electrical Systems Design:
- Design and integrate electrical systems, including inverters, transformers, switchgear, and protection
- systems.
- Ensure proper grounding, earthing, and protection for all electrical installations.
- Coordinate with local utilities and grid operators for grid connection and compliance.
3. Business Modeling:
- Develop comprehensive business models to assess the financial viability of solar PV projects.
- Perform cost-benefit analysis, ROI calculation, and payback period estimation.
- Identify and analyze potential revenue streams, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), net
- metering, and government incentives.
- Collaborate with financial teams to secure funding and investment for the project.
4. Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in the design and installation phases.
- Implement best practices for efficiency and cost-effectiveness in solar PV system design.
- Continuously update design processes based on the latest industry trends and technological
- advancements.
5. Project Coordination:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, installation teams, QA/QC, and
- O&M departments.
- Provide technical guidance and support to ensure successful project execution.
- Participate in site assessments and provide recommendations for design adjustments.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, bill of materials, and business
- models.
- Generate reports on system performance, design optimization, and financial analysis.
- Ensure all design and business-related documents are updated and stored in accordance with project
- protocols.
7. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all designs meet relevant local and international standards and regulations.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews and audits during the design and installation phases.
- Implement corrective actions as needed to address any design or business-related issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing solar PV systems, preferably in large-scale rooftop
- projects.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in designing electrical systems.
- Proficiency in PVSyst, AutoCAD, and other relevant design software.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, grid connection requirements, solar PV technologies, and
- business modeling.
- Experience with process improvement, optimization, and financial analysis in solar PV projects.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and teamwork skills.
- Exposure to structural analysis would be an added advantage.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
