- Brief job responsibility -
- Cost Estimation: Calculating the total cost of a project, including materials, labor, equipment, and overheads. This involves detailed analysis and understanding of project requirements and specifications.
- Quantity Takeoff: Measuring and listing the quantities of materials needed for the project from drawings and specifications. This is often done using specialized software or by manual methods.
- Preparation of Bids and Proposals: Compiling estimates into a comprehensive bid or proposal for potential clients. This includes a detailed breakdown of costs, schedules, and assumptions made during the estimation process.
- Risk Analysis: Identifying potential risks and uncertainties in the project, such as price fluctuations, availability of materials, or regulatory changes, and accounting for these factors in the estimate.
- Collaboration with Other Departments: Working closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and procurement teams to gather necessary information and ensure the estimate aligns with project goals and capabilities.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Liaison: Soliciting and evaluating quotes from vendors and subcontractors, negotiating prices, and ensuring that their inputs are accurate and complete.
- Cost Tracking and Reporting: Monitoring project costs during execution to compare actual costs against estimates, identifying variances, and providing explanations or recommendations.
- Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintaining detailed records of estimates, assumptions, and supporting data for future reference and audits.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyzing past project data to refine and improve estimation processes, tools, and accuracy.
- Compliance and Standards*: Ensuring that all estimates comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
