Working within a team of Database and DevOps experts, you will provide a point of escalation to the developer community for database related issues. Our team is responsible for the build and automation of database environments.
Contribute to the delivery and management of migration of database environments to the cloud. Responsible for all aspects of relocating pre-production and production Database infrastructure by utilising automation to deliver repeatable environments in a standardized form and engineering solutions to capitalize on cloud capabilities.
Supporting upgrades and migrations of database instances and infrastructure including exploring opportunities to best optimize the systems; solution design; development and working with appropriate teams on implementation.
Work closely with the Research, Product, Sales, Architecture and Technology teams to deliver products, services, enhancements, and solutions to meet customer needs and align with the goals of the business.
Technical authority on database principals and standards, promoting the design of performant, efficient, maintainable, and reusable code. Includes training, review and regular communication.
Ensure quality is built into everything we deliver as an organization.
Key Skills
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electronics / Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- At least 2+ years of experience with a relational database, ideally AWS RDS PostgreSQL/Aurora but Sybase and/or SQL Server are useful.
- At least 2+ years working in a cloud-based infrastructure environment, with an understanding of concepts relating to IaaS, PaaS and DBaaS.
- Strong knowledge of DevOps tools Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible
- Windows / Linux sysadmin skills including scripting
Desirable Skills
- Experience with SAP Sybase IQ
- Previous experience as a Database Administrator
- Experience with financial markets.
- Proficient in logical and physical data modelling concepts
- AWS Experience and or certifications
- Experience with Gitlab and migrating to the platform
