Data Scientist

Job Title: Data Scientist (Experience less than 5-8 years)

Reports To: The Data Scientist will report to the Data Science Section Manager / Senior Data Scientist.

Job Overview:

We are looking for a Data Scientist to analyze large amounts of raw information to find patterns that will help improve our company. We will rely on you to build data products to extract valuable insights. In this role, you should be highly analytical with a knack for analysis, math and statistics. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for interpreting data. We also want to see a passion for applying machine-learning. Your goal will be to help Rakuten Mobile Inc. analyze trends to make better decisions and enable the automation of the network operations and management.

Responsibilities:

Undertaking data collection, preprocessing and analysis

Building models to address problems

Presenting information using data visualization techniques

Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes

Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data

Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns

Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms

Combine models through ensemble modeling

Present information using data visualization techniques

Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges

Collaborate with engineering and product development teams

Requirements:

Basic Understanding of machine-learning and AI

Knowledge of Python, PySpark, SQL, Flask; familiarity with data frameworks such as Hadoop, databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, YugaByte), understanding of cloud-native deployments and infrastructure

Strong math / analytical skills (e.g. statistics, algebra)

Problem-solving aptitude

Excellent communication and presentation skills

BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field; graduate degree in Data Science or a quantitative field is preferred

Experience as a Data Scientist or Analyst is preferred

Experience in data mining

Experience in product development
