Job Summary:
As the Data Protection Officer (DPO), you will play a critical role in ensuring our organization complies with data protection regulations, specifically the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). You will develop and implement robust data protection policies, conduct assessments, and guide business units in best practices for data privacy. This role requires an experienced professional with a strong background in data protection, project management, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Policy Development and Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies and procedures to ensure compliance with PDPL and other relevant regulations.
- Regularly review and update policies to reflect changes in legislation and organizational practices.
- Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs):
- Conduct and maintain Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) to document all data processing activities.
- Lead Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects and initiatives to ensure privacy is integrated into the design process.
- Business Unit Guidance and Monitoring:
- Provide expert guidance to business units on data protection matters and monitor compliance with established policies and regulations.
- Work collaboratively with teams to identify data protection risks and recommend improvements to practices and processes.
- PDPL Implementation and Data Breach Management:
- Develop and oversee the PDPL Implementation Roadmap, ensuring timely execution of necessary actions.
- Create and manage a data breach response plan, including handling incidents, conducting investigations, and reporting breaches as required by law.
- Data Protection Inquiries and Rights Management:
- Address data protection inquiries from employees, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Manage data subject rights requests (e.g., access, rectification, erasure) in compliance with legal requirements.
- Training and Awareness:
- Develop and deliver data protection training programs for employees to enhance awareness and understanding of data privacy responsibilities.
- Foster a culture of data protection and privacy throughout the organization.
Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Data Protection, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 4-6 years of experience in data protection and privacy compliance, with a strong understanding of PDPL and GDPR frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in managing 3 to 4 GDPR implementation projects, showcasing the ability to lead compliance initiatives.
- Certifications:
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) are highly preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and data protection technologies.
- Proficient in conducting DPIAs and ROPA, with experience in privacy assessments.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is 12 LPA to 18 LPA.
