The Data Modeler will develop, design, document, and manage logical and physical data models supporting an Oracle database and reporting tools in MicroStrategy and Business Objects. They must be familiar with data warehouse architectures, ETL principles, BI semantic modelling, and BI report development. They must have strong experience in data modelling, SQL and data analysis.
This Candidate Will
- Help develop and manage data models for a normalized data warehouse and dimensional consumption layer using ER/Studio.
- Translate business requirements into logical and physical data models.
- Analyze source databases to identify relationships, structure, and integration points.
- Design Source to Target Data mapping and transformations.
- Partner with Engineering, QA, and Product to answer questions related to data lineage, business logic, and data transformations.
- Assist QA with trouble shooting and diagnostics of data inconsistencies across the entire BI data and reporting platform.
Basic Requirements
Have experience partnering with Data Platform, and Analytics Engineering to discover, analyze, document, and design information solutions and data lineage
Have a deep understanding of SQL, rational databases, and normalization to support data development in Oracle.
Effectively communicate and interact with business and technical stakeholders to answer questions related to the data model and other related technical problems
Ensure compliance with company data and software policies and procedures
Ability to explain concepts and issues in non-technical terminology.
Excellent attention to detail and strong problem solving and critical thinking.
Must be able to work independently and in a collaborative team environment. Work under minimal supervision and with a wide latitude for independent judgment
Efficiently manage time and set priorities for multiple deadlines, in addition to ad hoc requests.
Experience working with data modeling tools, preferably ER/Studio.
