Job Description:

NEXTWORK TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED is seeking a talented and experienced Data Center Engineer with a strong background in firewall and switch management to join our dynamic team. The Data Center Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the security, reliability, and performance of our data center network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of firewall configuration, network switches, and data center operations.

Responsibilities:

1. Design, deploy, and manage firewall solutions to secure the data center network from external threats and unauthorized access.
2. Configure and maintain network switches, routers, and other networking devices to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
3. Implement and enforce network security policies, including access control lists (ACLs), VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
4. Monitor network traffic and security events to detect and respond to potential security breaches or vulnerabilities.
5. Collaborate with network architects and system administrators to design and implement network infrastructure upgrades and expansions.
6. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as firmware upgrades, patch management, and configuration backups, to ensure the integrity and availability of network services.
7. Troubleshoot network-related issues and coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical problems in a timely manner.
8. Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning activities to optimize network performance and scalability.
9. Document network configurations, procedures, and best practices to support knowledge sharing and compliance with regulatory requirements.
10. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in network security, firewall management, and data center networking.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in data center operations and network engineering.
3. Strong knowledge of firewall technologies, including Cisco ASA, Palo Alto Networks, Check Point, or Fortinet.
4. Experience with network switch configuration and management, including Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, and Arista switches.
5. Familiarity with network protocols and technologies, such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and MPLS.
6. Hands-on experience with firewall rule configuration, VPN setup, and security policy management.
7. Certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent are highly desirable.
8. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
10. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
