Job Description

JioCinema is seeking a seasoned, visionary Creative Director to join our team in Mumbai. This pivotal role is responsible for elevating our visual communications and storytelling, establishing a compelling graphic design language that is seamlessly integrated throughout our products and interfaces, making them more intuitive, engaging, and visually appealing. As well as this, you will directly and positively influence all content publishing and marketing channels - you are the intersection between Product, Publishing & Marketing. As the lead creative force, you will be instrumental in defining and refining JioCinema's visual identity and creative output, setting it apart in the digital entertainment industry. You'll ensure our full integration with Jio, exchanging innovative ideas and contributing to an evolving world-class customer-experience ecosystem.

What You'll Do

  • Brand Leadership and Visual Strategy: You are the daily steward for the JioCinema brand execution, shaping and guiding its visual presence across various platforms and touchpoints with the Chief Design Officer. In particular, you are leading that integration for the JioCinema products, setting the visual standard for graphics across various platforms and initiatives. You craft and maintain a distinct visual identity for JioCinema, ensuring it is impressive, performant, and aligned as part of Jio.
  • Core Graphic Design: You will have the critical responsibility of leading all graphic design creation within the JioCinema product ecosystem as well as setting a foundational bar of excellence for Content Marketing, Performance Marketing and Publishing output. Your focus will be on directing and delivering high-quality, polished designs across various aspects of our products. Key areas of your work will include:
  • Eye-catching feature graphics that capture the essence of our content and engage users.
  • Educational materials and graphics that effectively communicate key information and enrich the user experience.
  • Informative and visually appealing graphics for page statefulness, notifications, signposting and more, enhancing user understanding and interaction.
  • Engaging onboarding graphics that provide a seamless introduction to features and services for new users.
  • Consistency and brand alignment across all graphic design elements, contributing to a cohesive and attractive user interface.
  • Integration of Motion and Interaction Design: Apply a sophisticated understanding of motion and interaction design to elevate graphic design elements in our products, enhancing user engagement and communication. Collaborate with a Motion Designer to transform static designs into dynamic, engaging animations, enriching the overall user experience.
  • Collaboration and Innovation: Maintain regular communication with the Jio Brand team, sharing insights and feedback to enhance the global design language. Innovate within the confines of brand guidelines to keep JioCinema's visual language fresh and ahead of industry trends.
  • Team Leadership and Project Management: Lead and inspire a small team of distributed graphic designers, fostering an environment of creativity and excellence. Manage multiple design projects, ensuring they align with JioCinema's strategic goals and are delivered to the highest standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evangelise your knowledge of current industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to graphic design and creativity. Actively seek feedback from users and stakeholders to iterate and improve designs based on insights and data.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, Data Analysts, and Marketers to ensure alignment on concepts and implementation. Effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders

Design Directors at JioCinema

Design Directors embody excellence within the discipline. They lead from the front with high EQ, grit and resilience, representing us at the highest levels within the organisation seeking out ways to deepen the connection between design and corporate consequence. They manage and coach all other Design Managers. Design Directors collaborate closely with their lead Product, Engineering & Marketing counterparts, and the executive team, to define and communicate the strategic vision and highlevel objectives for the product areas they manage. They've developed a deep understanding of JioCinema's cross-discipline goals, as they relate to their teams products, customers and KPIs. They use that knowledge to suggest actions that inform project proposals and ongoing product work. They ensure roadmaps are user-centered, data-informed and consider the entire product ecosystem. Directors exhibit a strong bias toward action and outcome - they get things done. Typically they manage multiple teams, projects or business units and showcase expert levels of management practice and tooling. They own critical, all-department communication.

We are looking for you if you have:

  • At least 6 years of professional experience in graphic or product design, as an Art Director, Creative Director or Design Lead with substantial expertise in designing for digital products and interfaces.
  • A portfolio showcasing a broad range of creative direction and hands-on design production across Product, Marketing, Motion and animated graphics (Broadcast Design also a huge bonus).
  • Experience working cross-platform (TV/Mobile/Web/Print/OOH) and collaborating closely with Design Systems teams. Deep knowledge and evidence of altitude-shifting from the nuances of a 300x50 in-app banner, to a 40ft out-of-home billboard.
  • Energised by hands-on work, sketching, concepts, prototypes, moodboarding, running discovery activities and polishing final designs.
  • A clear comprehension of what good looks like across the internet economy. A demonstrable dedication to quality, performance and pixel perfection. A seasoned storyteller, able to convincingly articulate quality, and take stakeholders on a journey.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a proven track record in building and leading a design team and managing cross-functional projects.
  • Able to work collaboratively in real time and asynchronously.
  • A mastery of Design tooling including Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, After Effects).
