As a Capital City Council, Councillors need to fulfil important decision-making and city representation responsibilities, including portfolio roles our Councillor Liaison Team assist in supporting all this important work!
In this role, you will join our dynamic team to provide a range of administrative, liaison and advisory services to the Council of the City of the Melbourne.
You will play a key part in helping Councillors meet the demands of their role, while working in a committed team who work collaboratively to provide an exceptional service.
As a Councillor representative, you will work in a complex environment and require an understanding of the challenges associated with working with diverse community and stakeholder issues in a political environment, and one where Council policy and strategic direction is sometimes challenged.
What You Will Bring (Selection Criteria)
- 5 years experience in project management, delivery of small to medium projects in a diverse organisation with multiple stakeholders.
- Proven ability to concurrently manage multiple projects on time, to budget and to client satisfaction within a structured reporting framework.
- Sound understanding of project management methodologies and a demonstrated understanding of standard forms of construction contracts and construction industry practices.
- Proven ability to manage a project team of external consultants and contractors ensuring high level performance and taking decisive corrective action when necessary.
- High level relationship and stakeholder management skills with the ability to deal with a diverse range of stakeholders with a broad range of expectations and client needs which are often of a competing nature.
- Highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to prepare briefing papers, reports, complex correspondence and presentations and speech notes.
- Understanding of Local Government, including an understanding of the role of Councillors, the Lord Mayor, and Deputy Lord Mayor.

- Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated flexibility in a team environment, along with an ability to work within a deadline driven environment with competing priorities.
