We are currently seeking a Control Room Operator to join our team. permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 15/13 Roster from Kavieng/Rabaul/Port Moresby/Lae/Mt Hagen/Buka/Madang/Goroka/Alotau/Wapenamanda/Popondetta/ Hoskins or Tabar group of Islands.

Reporting to the Processing Supervisor.
To provide experienced Technician services to the shift operations through the control room. Ensures continuous operation of the plant and avoids plant stoppages through monitoring equipment and adjusting control parameters according to Metallurgist daily guidelines and existing department short interval controls. Allocates field tasks to Technicians to ensure safe and efficient gold production. Ensures work requests are raised as reported by area Technicians. Assists with daily plant performance records and provides daily reagent consumption estimates.
The opportunity
Technical Accountabilities
- Ensuring safe work practices, own health and safety and all other workers by identifying hazards and ensuring issues and risks are reported.
- Performs equipment monitoring and management via Citect and Pi, problematic troubleshooting and compiling of shift reports / data as required.
- Keeps Processing Supervisor and Processing management informed of activities including unusual plant/equipment performance or concerns.
- Provides instruction to field Technicians relating to status of plant and adjustments required. Continuously evaluates plant performance and escalates issues.
- Problem solves plant performance issues and provides feedback to Supervisor. Escalates breakdowns to Process Supervisor upon equipment breakdown.
Scheduling Accountabilities
- Ensure plant it operated in efficient manner to maximise recovery and throughout in support of the delivery of the Processing Operations plans.
People Accountabilities
- Assist Supervisor with crew management in absence of leading hand.

Essential
- Behaviour consistent with St Barbara's Values
- Attained Grade 12 Certificate but not essential.
- Ten (10) years experience in Process operations with at least five (5) years in a similar role.
- Ability to operate and work in a safe and responsible manner.
- Ability to write and read emails, utilise MS office tools such as Excel, Word and Teams.
- Experienced Citect and Pi user.
- Effective verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Willingness and ability to relieve Process Supervisor or Leading Hand during absence.
Desirable
- Certificate III in Mineral Processing
