Job Title: Commis I Ice Cream/Pastry
Location: Kurla West (Ice cream factory)
Reports To: Pastry Chef / Head Chef
Job Summary: As a Commis I in our ice cream/pastry kitchen, you will assist in the creation and presentation of high-quality pastries and ice cream products. This role involves preparing ingredients, following recipes, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and supporting the senior pastry chefs in all aspects of dessert production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and Production:
- Assist in the preparation and production of pastries, cakes, cookies, and ice cream.
- Follow recipes and instructions provided by the pastry chef to ensure consistency and quality.
- Measure and mix ingredients according to standard recipes.
Kitchen Operations:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
- Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are adhered to, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify the pastry chef when supplies are low.
Quality Control:
- Assist in the presentation and plating of desserts to ensure they meet the establishments standards.
- Conduct taste tests and make necessary adjustments to recipes as directed by senior staff.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the pastry team to support daily operations and special events.
- Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during service periods.
- Learning and Development:
- Continuously develop skills and knowledge related to pastry and ice cream preparation.
- Attend training sessions and workshops as required to enhance culinary techniques and industry knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience or formal training in pastry or culinary arts is preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of pastry techniques and ice cream production.
- Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for pastry and dessert creation.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks associated with kitchen work.
- Capability to lift and carry items up to [X] pounds as required.
