JOB DESCRIPTION:
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Cluster Management:
Design, install, configure, and manage Red Hat OpenStack clusters to ensure high
availability and stability.
Perform upgrades and patches to the OpenStack components to keep the systems
secure and efficient.
2. Storage Integration and Management:
Implement and manage storage solutions using CEPH and NetApp within the OpenStack
environment.
Optimize storage performance and capacity planning to meet the demands of public
cloud services.
Ensure data integrity and availability with effective backup and disaster recovery
solutions.
3. Network Configuration:
Configure and maintain networking components within the OpenStack environment,
such as Neutron, to ensure secure and efficient data transfer.
Set up VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls to protect and segment network traffic within the
cloud infrastructure.
4. Performance Monitoring and Tuning:
Monitor the health and performance of OpenStack clusters and associated storage
solutions.
Analyze performance metrics and logs to identify and resolve issues proactively.
Optimize the system for better performance and scalability based on observed data and
trends.
5. Security and Compliance:
Implement security best practices and policies for cloud infrastructure management.
Regularly audit the systems to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
Manage user roles and access controls to maintain security and operational integrity.
6. Troubleshooting and Support:
Provide level 2 and level 3 support for issues related to OpenStack and associated
storage platforms.
Troubleshoot complex issues spanning across compute, storage, and network layers.
Coordinate with vendor support and other technical teams for issue resolution.
7. Automation and Tooling:
Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline administrative tasks such as
deployment, monitoring, and management.
Internal Information
Utilize configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef for efficient
management of large-scale environments.
8. Documentation and Reporting:
Document all configurations, changes, and procedures related to the OpenStack
environment and storage management.
Prepare performance, incident, and availability reports for higher management and
stakeholders.
9. Capacity Planning and Forecasting:
Conduct capacity planning to accommodate future growth and to prevent over-
provisioning and under-provisioning of resources.
Forecast future needs based on trends in utilization and business growth expectations.
10. Collaboration and Training:
Work closely with other IT teams, including application development, security, and
network teams, to ensure that the infrastructure supports all business needs.
Provide training and guidance to junior engineers and other technical staff.
These roles and responsibilities ensure that the Red Hat OpenStack Engineer is equipped to handle
complex environments and deliver stable, efficient, and secure public cloud services.
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
4 to 8 years of hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenStack platform.
Strong understanding of cloud computing and virtualization technologies.
Experience with Linux/Unix administration and scripting languages such as Bash, Python, etc.
Proficiency in networking technologies, IP networking, VPN's, DNS, load balancing and
firewalling.
Familiarity with CI/CD principles and tools.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Proven ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex IT concepts in simple terms.
Certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified
Engineer (RHCE) in Red Hat OpenStack are highly desirable.
Immediate -15 days NP guys preferred.
