About the Role: Cloud and Platforms Engineer
The candidate will be responsible for automation using infrastructure as code (IaC), must possess the knowledge on multi-cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP with strong knowledge on machine Image builds of operating systems - Windows & Linux/Unix, and Middleware & Container technology. Able to provide subject-matter-expertise (SMEs) to the teams on Image Engineering, hardening, deployments and management. Partner with multi-division stakeholders to drive the Image adoption adhere to technical and security hardening requirements set by Information Security team. Additionally, in this role candidate will have responsibilities including design, develop and implementation of Cloud Infrastructure use cases and build SPGI specific app stacks that can be deployed on on-prem (Private cloud) and Public Clouds using various modern platforms and AI & ML.
The Team: The chosen candidate will join the S&P Global Digital Technology Services, specifically in the Product Engineering Team under Global Cloud Services. They will assist in designing and developing automations and software to support DTS multi-cloud solutions through cloud engineering and secure machine image delivery.
Responsibilities and Impact:
Design and develop automation workflows to improve infrastructure automation for Container Images build and distribute.
Plan, Build and maintain OS Image Build pipelines in AWS, Azure, GCP, VMC and On-prem.
Create and manage blueprints, templates and configuration in automated machine image engineering and delivery through Image pipeline.
Develop and maintain IaC scripts in Terraform, Ansible, JavaScript, Python PowerShell or Bash
Define development guidelines, develop CI/CD pipelines and manage codebase for platforms delivered.
Work with cross-functional infrastructure teams and business divisions to identify opportunities for automation and develop solutions that meet the needs of the business.
Troubleshoot issues related to automation workflows, scripts, and cloud infrastructure.
Continuously evaluate and improve automation solutions to optimize performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
Able to contribute SME-level expertise on Kubernetes, container build, distribute and manage lifecycle
Able to grasp and understand technologies such as middleware - Apache, tomcat, and database binaries such as SQL, Post-gress SQL and Oracle and build images per Information Security guidelines.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams such Information Security, Enterprise Shared Services teams for incorporating tools specific requirements in the images.
Guide & support managed services partner and proactively plan the image development, roadmap, and lifecycle.
What We're Looking For:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in technology/information management, engineering or related field required
5-8 Years of expertise managing AWS services and cloud engineering consuming services via CLI and API within a multi account production environment.
Working expertise on building, testing and security scanning through automated image-build pipeline
Extensive experience with infrastructure scripting solutions such as Terraform, PowerShell, Python, Ansible and Image builder tools such as Packer and AWS image builder or the similar image build toolset.
Familiarity with container orchestration services, especially Kubernetes & its components
Experience administering and deploying development CI/CD tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Artifactory, Ansible Tower
Significant experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, middleware and enterprise database to support build and support image delivery for the company
Additional Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Process-oriented with great documentation skills.
Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
Experience with or knowledge of Agile Software Development methodologies.
