About MDF
Australia's Market Development Facility (MDF) helps countries in the Indo-Pacific region to grow through improved productivity, economic diversification, competitiveness and trade. MDF helps business partners and government to identify markets that have high potential to grow, be profitable, and deliver social and environmental value. We currently operate in Fiji, Timor-Leste, Samoa, Vanuatu, Tonga and Sri Lanka.

About The Opportunity
MDF is looking for a passionate and entrepreneurial Business Development Manager to help grow its climate change portfolio in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka faces significant climate challenges across various sectors such as agriculture, tourism, fisheries, energy, and water resources. MDF aims to accelerate the commercialisation of innovations to build resilience and sustainability while unlocking commercial opportunities.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Build and convert leads into new investment concepts with both commercial and climate relevance.
- Identify and develop business models promoting sustainable practices and green products.
- Analyse market opportunities in Sri Lanka with potential for climate impact and commercial growth.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the climate change sector.
- Support MDF's climate change strategy through communications, research, and knowledge-sharing.
- Mentor and build the capacity of MDF's teams to integrate climate change considerations into their work.
Requirements
We are looking for an individual who will bring:
- Experience in business development, particularly in climate-related sectors like energy, agriculture, or green finance.
- Strong knowledge of Sri Lanka's climate challenges and an existing network of stakeholders in relevant sectors.
- Willingness to travel extensively within Sri Lanka.
- A degree in climate change, environmental science, economics, business administration, or equivalent experience.
- An entrepreneurial mindset.
