The company provides end to end solutions from design and engineering, project management as well as post sales services for solar projects. We have installed solar power plants through pay and own (CAPEX) and pay as you go (OPEX) models for our clients across India,as well as in international projects in Sri Lanka and Nepal. About the Role:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a pivotal member of the executive team at U-Solar Clean Energy, responsible for overseeing all financial aspects, providing strategic input, and leading financial decision-making. The CFO will ensure that financial systems support our growth plans by implementing a suitable accounting framework and management system. This role involves leading project evaluations through a rigorous, committee-driven process, collaborating closely with the CEO on investor relations, large project financing, and securing funding. Additionally, the CFO will handle financial discussions with banks, credit providers, auditors, and equity investors, focusing on cost optimization, profitability, and positioning the company for future growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy and Leadership:
- Develop and implement exemplary financial processes and systems to support growth strategies and ensure scalability for future expansion.
- Oversee the transition to a robust financial accounting system aligned with long-term goals.
- Provide strategic financial recommendations to the CEO and executive team, advancing a finance-driven approach in project selection, sourcing, execution, operations and maintenance, and financing strategies.
- Develop a long-term funding plan based on financial projections.
Financial Management:
- Establish a management accounting framework with key metrics to monitor monthly financial performance and offer insights to the leadership team.
- Ensure adherence to all finance-related compliances, working with banks and financial institutions to reduce borrowing costs.
- Manage external financial interactions with auditors, banks, credit providers, and equity investors, ensuring favourable terms and compliance.
Project Evaluation and Investment Management:
- Lead the evaluation of new projects using a data-driven, scientific approach. As a key member of the project evaluation committee, you will guide financial analysis to support project decisions.
- Evaluate the financial impact of long-term planning, new strategies, and regulatory actions, ensuring optimal capital allocation and investment management.
- Oversee the company's transaction processing systems and ensure the implementation of best practices.
Operational Efficiency:
- Interact with all parts of the organization to support revenue-enhancing initiatives, ensuring financial discipline across departments.
- Monitor and regulate costs to enhance profitability.
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, ensuring that the financial systems are efficient and scalable.
Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate key financial risks, ensuring the company complies with all legal, regulatory, and financial requirements.
- Monitor all open legal and regulatory issues involving the company.
Collaboration and Strategic Partnerships:
- Work closely with the CEO to pitch large-scale projects to customers, secure long-term investors for capital, and obtain credit lines from banks to support growth.
- Drive a finance-led approach within the organization, influencing decision-making in project execution and operational performance.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting/Commerce/Economics/Business Administration etc.
- Master's degree in Finance/Accounting/Commerce/Economics or an MBA with specialization in finance is preferred.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification is mandatory.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in finance, accounting etc
- Proven experience as a CFO, finance officer, or in a relevant financial leadership role.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices.
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office and financial management software.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers.
