Job Summary: The Chief Academic Officer (CAO) is responsible for overseeing the academic operations and initiatives of the institution. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality educational programs, promotes academic excellence, and supports the institution's strategic goals and mission.
Academic Leadership:- Develop and implement academic strategies, policies, and programs that align with the institution's mission and goals.
Provide leadership and direction to academic deans, department chairs, and faculty.- Foster a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
Curriculum Development:- Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum.
Ensure the curriculum meets accreditation standards and industry requirements.- Promote innovative teaching methods and the integration of technology in the classroom.
Faculty Management:- Recruit, hire, and retain highly qualified faculty members.
Oversee faculty development programs, including mentoring, training, and performance evaluation.- Promote a collaborative and inclusive academic environment.
Student Success:- Develop and implement strategies to enhance student retention, graduation rates, and overall success.
Oversee academic advising, tutoring, and support services.- Address student academic concerns and grievances.
Accreditation and Compliance:- Ensure the institution complies with all accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
Lead the accreditation process and maintain relationships with accrediting bodies.- Prepare and submit required reports and documentation.
Budget and Resource Management:- Develop and manage the academic budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
Secure funding and grants to support academic programs and initiatives.- Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of academic facilities and resources.
Collaboration and Partnership:- Collaborate with other administrative leaders to achieve the institution's strategic goals.
Develop partnerships with external organizations, including businesses, government agencies, and other educational institutions.- Represent the institution at academic conferences, meetings, and events.
Strategic Planning:- Participate in the development and implementation of the institution's strategic plan.
Monitor trends and developments in higher education and incorporate best practices.- Lead initiatives to enhance the institution's academic reputation and standing.
MBA, Academic Administration, or a related field.- Minimum of 10 years of experience in higher education administration, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, accreditation, and faculty management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to develop and implement academic strategies and programs.- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.
- Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with online and hybrid learning environments.- Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in education.
Experience in securing grants and external funding.
