Role Overview
The Chemist will be responsible for monitoring, testing, and analyzing water quality parameters in WTP, STP, and ETP operations to ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards. The role involves conducting chemical analyses, maintaining equipment, and preparing reports to support efficient plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Water Quality Analysis
- Perform routine testing of water samples to assess physical, chemical, and biological parameters.
- Conduct tests for pH, TDS, COD, BOD, hardness, alkalinity, and other required metrics.
- Identify deviations from acceptable quality standards and recommend corrective actions.
- Process Optimization
- Assist in optimizing chemical dosing for treatment processes.
- Monitor performance of filtration, sedimentation, and disinfection systems.
- Provide insights for improving operational efficiency.
- Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all activities adhere to environmental and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of test results, calibration logs, and process reports.
- Assist in preparing compliance reports for submission to regulatory authorities.
- Lab & Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain lab equipment and ensure proper calibration and functionality.
- Order and manage inventory of chemicals and consumables.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
- Support & Training
- Collaborate with plant operators and provide technical guidance when needed.
- Conduct basic training for plant staff on sampling and testing methods.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in water/wastewater analysis in WTP, STP, or ETP projects.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and environmental regulations is preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency in water and wastewater testing techniques.
