Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Friday.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative, experienced, highly motivated nurse to undertake the role of Charge Nurse and join our team within Gartnavel General Hospital, Outpatient Department.

The role requires a 1st level registered nurse, holding current UK NMC registration, with substantial post registration experience at Band 5 within a relevant setting that demonstrates the breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently / previous Band 6 experience.

  • Able to demonstration a high level of IT skills.

This Busy Department Specialises In The Outpatient Care Of Patients Including Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, ENT And Urology. As Charge Nurse, You Must Possess The Ability To Work Across Professional Boundaries And Collaboratively With The Nursing And Medical Teams, Implementing & Evaluating Nursing Care And Service Delivery. On a Daily Basis You Will

  • Be responsible for ensuring that you motivate others and help lead the team promoting & providing high standards of quality care and supervise qualified & unqualified staff and students.
  • Ensure appropriate learning opportunities are met for all staff, encouraging best practice to deliver high quality of patient care at all times.
  • Evidence continuous professional development
  • Be expected with a willingness to contribute to education and audit within the department.
  • Be supported by our Clinical Nurse Educator.

Requirements

  • A highly motivated, organised individual with excellent communication and decision making skills with a desire to develop your leadership and managerial skills.
  • A good understanding and knowledge of policy, procedures and national targets will be required to support the team.

You will be responsible to the Senior Charge Nurse (SCN) for clinical guidance & professional management and will deputise for the SCN providing clear leadership to junior staff and cover in the absence of the senior charge nurse where required.
