The Team You Will Be a Part Of

The Sales Strategy and Business Operations team is takes care for planning of all sales activities. Researches and studies the organization's existing and targeted customers to develop a knowledge base of sales trends. Plans and co-ordinates projects to improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the sales force.

This Role In Summary

The Category Manager for Consumer Durables is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the performance of a designated product category within the consumer durables sector. This role involves strategic planning, product assortment management, vendor relationships, and market analysis to drive revenue growth and enhance the overall consumer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Category Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive category strategy aligned with overall business goals, focusing on consumer durables such as appliances, electronics, and other durable goods.
  • Assortment Planning: Curate and manage the product assortment within the category, ensuring a balanced mix of products that meets consumer needs and preferences.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, consumer behaviors, and competitive landscapes within the consumer durables category.
  • Vendor Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiating terms, pricing, and promotional opportunities to maximize category performance.
  • Financial Performance: Set and achieve financial targets for the category, including revenue, margin, and inventory turnover, while managing costs and ensuring profitability.
  • Consumer Insights: Utilize consumer insights, feedback, and data analytics to make informed decisions on product selection, pricing, and marketing strategies.
  • Promotions and Campaigns: Plan and execute promotional campaigns, discounts, and marketing initiatives to drive sales and enhance the visibility of the consumer durables category.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, sales, and merchandising teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment of category strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Monitor and manage the entire product lifecycle, from product introduction to discontinuation, ensuring timely updates and adjustments to the category strategy.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure that products within the category comply with industry standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
  • Competitor Analysis: Stay abreast of competitor activities, pricing strategies, and market positioning to make proactive adjustments to the category strategy.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data analytics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and assess category performance, making data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements

  • MBA fulltime
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as Category manager, overall 7-10 years of experience
  • Proven experience in category management, preferably in the consumer durables sector.
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management abilities.
  • Familiarity with market trends and consumer behaviors in the consumer durables industry.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal communication.

Preferred Skills And Experiences

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms and online retail strategies.
  • Knowledge of consumer durables industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Working Conditions: Category Managers for Consumer Durables typically work in an office environment, collaborating with various teams and occasionally traveling for vendor meetings, conferences, or market visits. The role may also involve periodic work outside of standard business hours to meet deadlines and respond to market dynamics.
