Job Description: Category Manager for E-commerce Business (Amazon and Flipkart Specialist)

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Category Manager to oversee and optimize our product categories on these platforms.
  • Job Summary:

The Category Manager will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies to maximize sales, profitability, and market share on Amazon and Flipkart. The role requires a deep understanding of these marketplaces, strong analytical skills, and the ability to drive business growth. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in a similar role and a background in Business Management Studies (BMS) or related fields.
  • Key Responsibilities:
Category Strategy Development:
  • Develop and implement category strategies specific to Amazon and Flipkart to achieve sales and profitability targets.
Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape on both platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align category strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Product Assortment and Sourcing:
Manage the product lifecycle from selection to discontinuation for Amazon and Flipkart.
  • Identify and source new products that align with category strategy and customer demand on both platforms.
Negotiate with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
  • Pricing and Promotion:
Develop and execute pricing strategies to maximize profitability while remaining competitive on Amazon and Flipkart.
  • Plan and implement promotional activities to drive sales and enhance category performance on both platforms.
Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of pricing and promotional initiatives.
  • Merchandising and Inventory Management:
Ensure optimal product presentation on Amazon and Flipkart.
  • Collaborate with the merchandising team to create compelling product descriptions, images, and content.
Monitor inventory levels to ensure product availability and minimize stockouts or overstock situations.
  • Performance Analysis and Reporting:
Analyze category performance metrics, including sales, margin, and inventory turnover on Amazon and Flipkart.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on category performance for senior management.
Identify and implement actions to improve category performance based on data insights.
  • Customer Insights and Engagement:
Understand customer needs and preferences through data analysis and market research on Amazon and Flipkart.
  • Develop strategies to enhance customer engagement and loyalty within the category.
Respond to customer feedback and adjust category plans accordingly.
  • Collaboration and Leadership:
Work closely with marketing, sales, operations, and finance teams to ensure seamless execution of category plans.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior team members and cross-functional partners.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in any stream; BMS preferred.
  • 2-3 years of proven experience as a Category Manager or similar role in an e-commerce environment, specifically on Amazon and Flipkart.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
In-depth understanding of market research and consumer behavior on Amazon and Flipkart.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in e-commerce platforms and merchandising tools.
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
