Qualification: Bachelors degree in engineering (Electrical), Business Administration, or a related field. Masters degree is preferred.

Experience : Minimum of 5+ years of experience in product management, category management, or a similar role within the solar inverter industry.

Summary

The Solar Inverter Category Head is responsible for leading and managing the solar inverter category within the organization. This role involves overseeing product development, procurement, inventory management, sales, and marketing strategies to ensure the growth and profitability of the solar inverter category. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the solar energy industry, specifically solar inverters, and will possess strong leadership, analytical, and strategic planning skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Category Management:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the solar inverter category to achieve sales and profitability targets.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify opportunities for growth and differentiation.
  • Manage the product lifecycle from concept to end-of-life, including product selection, pricing, and discontinuation.
  1. Product shortlisting & onboarding:
  • Define product specifications, performance standards, and quality requirements.
  • Work with manufacturers to source high-quality solar inverters at competitive prices.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to ensure favourable terms and conditions.
  1. Inventory Management:
  • Develop inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels, reduce lead times, and minimize excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Coordinate with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery and distribution of products.
  1. Sales and Marketing:
  • Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to drive demand for solar inverters and achieve category sales targets.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to provide product training, support, and promotional materials.
  • Analyze sales data and market feedback to refine product offerings and marketing tactics.
  1. Financial Management:
  • Prepare and manage the category budget, including sales forecasts, expense management, and profitability analysis.
  • Monitor financial performance and take corrective actions to achieve category financial goals.
  1. Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a team of category managers, product managers, and support staff to achieve business objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of solar inverters, their technology, and market dynamics.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing category strategies and achieving sales and profitability targets.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in supply chain management and inventory optimization.
  • Knowledge of global solar energy markets and regulatory environments.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
