Job Description

Tests and procedures:Run electrocardiograms, exercise tolerance tests, and other tests to record cardiac activity
Patient care:Prepare patients for testing, care for them during procedures, and shave and clean them
Record and assess:Record and assess cardiac activity, and provide preliminary reports
Equipment:Operate electrocardiogram equipment and other electronic equipment
Pacemakers:Reprogram pacemakers and document pacemaker implant threshold measurements
Supervision:Supervise and train students, other cardiology technologists, and nurses
Research:Conduct research to ensure the use of best methods and techniques
Performance standards:Establish performance standards

Cardiology technologists work in hospitals, clinics, and medical laboratories.They typically have a college diploma in Cardiology Technology or Cardiovascular Technician program, followed by supervised practical training.
