Job Summary:The Carbon Credit Developer and Trader is responsible for identifying, developing, and trading carbon credit projects. This role combines project management, market analysis, and trading expertise to support the company's environmental sustainability goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, project development, and carbon trading.
Project Development:- Identify and assess potential carbon offset projects, including renewable energy, reforestation, and energy efficiency initiatives.
Manage the development process of carbon credit projects from inception to certification, including feasibility studies, project design, and documentation.- Collaborate with project partners, consultants, and verification bodies to ensure successful project implementation and certification.
Ensure projects meet relevant standards and methodologies (e.g., VCS, Gold Standard, CDM).
Execute trades of carbon credits on various trading platforms, ensuring compliance with company policies and market regulations.- Monitor carbon credit markets to identify trading opportunities and mitigate risks.
Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Manage and optimize a portfolio of carbon credit assets.
Market Analysis:
- Analyze market trends, pricing, and regulatory changes affecting the carbon credit markets.
Provide insights and reports on market conditions and forecasts to inform trading and project development strategies.
- Develop financial models to evaluate the impact of market movements on the portfolio.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure all project development and trading activities comply with relevant environmental regulations and standards.
Prepare detailed reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions and project development activities.
Education:- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CAIA, or relevant environmental certifications) are preferred.Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in carbon project development, environmental markets, or a related field.
- Proven track record in developing and trading carbon credits.
Skills:
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
Excellent understanding of carbon markets, trading platforms, and regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and market analysis tools.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.- Attention to detail and ability to conduct thorough due diligence.
