Job Summary:
As a CAD Designer - SolidWorks Specialist (Sheet Metal) at Spruce Up, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of our line of road sweeping trucks. You will work closely with our engineering team to create detailed 3D models and drawings that meet our clients specifications and manufacturing requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- SolidWorks Proficiency: Utilize SolidWorks software to create 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings for machinery components and assemblies.
- Sheet Metal Design: Design and model sheet metal parts and assemblies, ensuring precision in sheet metal manufacturing processes.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and product managers, to understand project requirements and contribute to design reviews.
- Design Optimization: Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and improved manufacturability while maintaining product performance and quality.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions to support manufacturing processes.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with industry standards and company quality standards.
- Prototyping Support: Provide support during the prototype development phase, making necessary design adjustments based on feedback and testing results.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest SolidWorks features and industry best practices to enhance design capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a CAD Designer, with a strong focus on SolidWorks and sheet metal design.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, parametric design, and assembly modeling.
- Experience with sheet metal design, including flat pattern development and knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Knowledge of engineering standards, GD&T, and best practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in machinery manufacturing or a related industry.
- Familiarity with other CAD software and simulation tools.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, welding, and assembly.
- Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems for document management.
