Position:

Business Finance Manager

Primary reporting to:

Business Finance Controller Business Head - Services Business Unit

Position Summary:

This position will collaborate with the BU Head, work under the functional guidance of the CFO and BFC to co-own the P&L and effectively manage the finances of the high growth Services Business Unit. The incumbent should have demonstrated capabilities in FP&A, rolling forecasts, releasing timely and accurate management reports with variance analysis and insights, sound financial acumen to recommend key business decisions, capital budgeting, working capital management, eye for detail and passion to constantly improve profitability and return on investment.

Primary responsibilities and key functions:

Financial management, reporting, analytics and decision support

  1. Assist BU Head and the BFC in developing robust financial Plan and Model in line with the business plan, short and long term organisation goals. Excel Models should have separate sections for variables / key input levers / business assumptions, workings and resultant reports to enable multiple iterations, controlled change versions and periodic revisions based on actual performance.
  2. Perform periodical and timely management reporting and ad-hoc business analysis. Present recommendations to BU Head and BFC on strategic decisions and planned future initiatives.
  3. Assist Lines of Business heads / Functional heads in evaluating new proposals / initiatives / pricing requirements on time, incorporating granular variables, comparison of past evaluation with actual performance, highlighting deviations, risk areas, and improve the overall quality of assumptions / financial evaluation process. Present the proposals to Business Head and CFO emphasising the areas of revenue optimisation, cost and investment rationalisation.
  4. Assist the BU head in facilitating weekly / monthly / quarterly reviews (WBR, MBR, QBR) with data analysis, call outs and follow through with business / operating teams on actionable items for improving business metrics over a period of time. Challenge the LoBs, cost and profit centers effectively and uphold independence of Finance.
  5. Manage the P&L reports, CapEx plan, Free Cash Flow, Balance Sheet with key variables and assumptions across controlled change revisions to ensure the planning integrity.
  6. Coordinate and manage interdependencies with other functions like Operations, HR, SCM, IT, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service teams to supervise and support in business operations effectively.
  7. Assist the BFC in inspecting and approving major vendor contracts, manage overall exposure in inventory, receivables (unbilled, billed & bad), allocation of central costs and its drivers. Work with accounting team to drive monthly book closer process for the BU, participate in insurance and miscellaneous actions, attend to / escalate process gaps for timely resolutions.
  8. Support BU and LoB heads in carrying out competition analysis as and when required.
  9. Assist CFO and BFC in periodically evaluating / highlighting the operating and financial risks, quantify the Value @ Risk with buy-ins from respective LoB / Functional owners and articulate them crisply with Mitigation suggestions towards contributing to ERM framework.
  10. Any other coordinating tasks between the Business and Finance functions that may arise from time to time.

IT Skills

  1. Should be an advanced user in MS Excel & Power Point; well versed in organizing / crunching / analyzing large volume of data using pivot tables / lookup / iferror, sumproduct, NPV, XIRR, cumipmt etc; preparing interesting charts / presentations.
  2. Working experience in a good ERP is a must; SAP experience is preferred.
  3. Prior experience in any office automation initiatives like customizations, API integrations, by way of contributing to BRD / FRD or performance of UAT etc are additional advantages.

Qualification and Experience

  1. Qualification: Qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India
  2. 6 to 10 Years Experience: Preference will be given to incumbents with similar prior experience in new age consumer services unicorns / successful start-ups / FMCG / e-commerce companies having multiple hub and spoke operating model, Articleship or post articleship experience in any of Big 4 or premier auditing / consulting groups.
