- Researching: Uncover interesting and significant news
Interviewing: Interview experts and witnesses- Gathering data: Gather first-hand accounts of events
Organizing: Organize findings into a cohesive story
- Writing: Write and revise news copy
Editing: Correct errors, rearrange elements, and revise language- Reporting: Report on news events promptly and accurately
Journalists should also:- Maintain awareness of the readers point of view
Represent the news channel in a professional manner
- Work collaboratively as part of the broadcast team
* Develop local sources for stories
- Travel throughout the local market to investigate and report on approved stories
