Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated biology teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will inspire and educate students in the field of biology, fostering a love for scientific inquiry and understanding of biological concepts. The biology teacher will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging lessons, supervising laboratory work, assessing student performance, and collaborating with colleagues to enhance the curriculum.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans that cover various biological topics, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards.
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to engage students in active learning and critical thinking.
- Supervise and support laboratory activities, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Assess student learning through exams, quizzes, projects, and other forms of assessment, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to coordinate interdisciplinary projects and activities.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay updated on advancements in biology education and teaching methodologies.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that respects diversity and promotes academic excellence.
- Uphold school policies and procedures, including those related to behavior management and professional conduct.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Education, or a related field
- (Master's degree preferred) B.Ed./M.Ed.
- State certification or licensure to teach biology at the secondary level.
- Proven experience in teaching biology, preferably in a secondary school setting.
- Strong knowledge of biological sciences, including genetics, ecology, evolution, and cellular biology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Dedication to student success and a passion for teaching.
