We're seeking an experienced BigQuery Specialist to lead the development and management of a new BigQuery database. This role will involve designing, implementing, and optimizing a BigQuery data solution tailored to our needs.
Position Overview: As a BigQuery Specialist, you will be responsible for building and managing our BigQuery database infrastructure, enabling the effective ingestion, transformation, and analysis of large datasets. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and optimize the database for performance and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
SQL and BigQuery Expertise:Use advanced SQL, including BigQuery-specific syntax and functions, to create efficient data queries and support analytic tasks.
Data Modeling:Develop and implement schema designs that enable efficient data retrieval and support complex analytical needs.
ETL/ELT Processes:Build and manage ETL/ELT pipelines to automate data ingestion and transformation using tools such as Google Dataflow, Apache Airflow, and dbt.
Optimization:Employ BigQuery optimization techniques, including partitioning, clustering, and caching, to improve query performance and cost efficiency.
Programming & Automation:Leverage Python and other scripting languages to automate data processing tasks, using BigQuery APIs where necessary.
Data Security:Ensure data integrity and security by implementing appropriate permissions using Google Cloud IAM, data masking, and encryption practices.
Cloud Architecture:Integrate BigQuery within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem, working with other GCP services such as Cloud Storage and Pub/Sub.
Business Intelligence Integration:Collaborate with BI teams to ensure BigQuery integrates seamlessly with tools like Looker, Data Studio, and others for effective data visualization.
Collaboration & Project Management:Work with stakeholders across departments to gather requirements, communicate progress, and ensure successful project execution.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment.
Advanced SQL skills and knowledge of BigQuery SQL syntax, including arrays, structs, and analytic functions.
Demonstrated ability in data modeling, schema design, and database optimization.
Experience with ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline tools (e.g., Dataflow, dbt, Apache Airflow).
Programming skills in Python or similar scripting language.
Understanding of cloud architecture within GCP, and experience integrating with tools like Cloud Storage and Pub/Sub.
Proficiency in BI tools such as Looker and Data Studio.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
