What You'll Achieve
The Data Analytics Platforms team, part of Dell Digital's Enterprise Data Solutions organization, is responsible for maintaining multiple Big Data Platforms and data lake environments in Production and Non-Production. The team is also responsible for Engineering and platform activities, including automation and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning.
The Big Data Principal Software Engineer - IT will participate in and contribute to initiatives that improve overall product quality including designing, developing and testing storage solution for Big Data platforms while focusing on the customer needs. This role reports to the IT Senior Manager.
You will:
- Contribute to the design and architecture of new or re-engineered storage environments and prepare written storage specifications for complex products from architectural diagrams and documents
- Develop, review, design and implement source code revision control methods for products and analyze, and implement test strategies for software products and systems/for storage products and systems
- Develop, test and integrate code for new or existing software of significant complexity and design and implement source code revision control methods for products
- Provide sustaining or maintenance support to existing software/storage environment, either by implementation or providing guidance to less senior engineers
- Prepare accurate project status documentation for leadership and measure and analyze, quality metrics.

Essential Requirements
- Experience in Data warehouse and Data Lake technologies and tools like Teradata, Greenplum, Hadoop
- Experience in Different compute and storage technologies like Spark, Isilon, Dell ECS, Amazon S3 etc.
- Experience in Data Virtualization concepts and tools like Dremio, Starburst etc.
- Experience defining replication, data backup and archival strategies for big data products
- Experience in architecting large scale big data platforms for on-prem and cloud implementations.
Desirable Requirements
- Typically requires 10+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8+ years with a Master's degree; or equivalent experience
