About the Role: As a Backend Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing and enhancing our platform that supports institutional multi-family operators. You will focus on building robust solutions within our backend stack which is built in Java (Spring Boot). Your work will involve contributing to features such as listing syndication, residential leasing quoting and applications, AI communications, and creating customizable business rules engines to satisfy a diverse range of customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, deploy, and maintain robust backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Design and implement APIs with gRPC, leveraging Buf and Protocol Buffers to encapsulate data transiting through multiple application modules.
- Architect reliable and scalable event-driven systems utilizing Kafka and AWS infrastructure.
- Secure application integrations with AuthZed and manage relational databases with Postgres.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet enterprise scaling needs.
- Add value to our high-performance culture by contributing to ongoing process improvements and innovation initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience building complex enterprise-level applications with Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
- Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and familiarity with the technologies and platforms mentioned.
- Demonstrated experience with cloud services, specifically AWS, and understanding of event-driven architecture.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to learning new technologies and methodologies.
- College degree is mandatory and evidence of high intrinsic motivation and professionalism will be tested throughout the interview process.

- Round 1: Initial Screen (Non-technical)
- Round 2: Technical Interview with Head of Engineering
- Take Home Challenge: Open-ended challenge to build a POC (You will be paid for three hours of your time if you reach this stage)
- Round 3: Take Home Challenge Review with CEO and Head of Engineering
