Job Objective:
As an AWS Cloud Engineer FinOps at Cloudelligent, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing our cloud costs and ensuring effective financial operations within our AWS environment. This role is dedicated to managing, monitoring, and optimizing our AWS infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive AWS cost optimization strategy in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Continuously monitor AWS resource utilization, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and implementing optimization measures
- Create and maintain cost allocation and classification strategies to accurately track and allocate AWS costs across various projects
- Work with AWS services such as AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Trusted Advisor, and AWS Budgets to analyze cost and usage data, automating data retrieval and processing where possible
- Define and track AWS-specific financial KPIs, regularly reporting on cost performance and identifying areas for improvement
- Implement and manage AWS-specific cost governance practices and policies to align with organizational objectives
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools like AWS CloudFormation and AWS CDK to optimize AWS resource provisioning
- Develop custom scripts and automation using Python, AWS SDKs, AWS CLI, and IaC tools to automate cost management tasks
- Provide cost optimization recommendations based on AWS best practices, industry benchmarks, and report insights
- Participate in AWS billing and contract negotiations to secure favorable terms and pricing
- Stay updated on AWS pricing models, services, and features to proactively identify opportunities for cost savings
- Conduct AWS cost and usage analysis for different projects and departments, providing insights and recommendations
- Assist in the development of reports and dashboards for AWS cost and usage tracking
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in managing AWS infrastructure and cloud cost optimization
- Strong knowledge of AWS services, pricing models, and cost management tools
- Proficiency in Python scripting and automation using AWS SDKs, AWS CLI, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
- Working knowledge of AWS CloudFormation or other IaC tools for managing and optimizing cloud resource provisioning
- Proficiency with AWS cost management tools (e.g., Cost Explorer, Budgets, Trusted Advisor)and similar cost analysis tools
- Experience with cost optimization techniques for AWS services like reserved instances, spot instances, and Savings Plans
- Solid understanding of AWS billing, invoicing, and financial reporting
- Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and tools
- Strong analytical skills to identify and prioritize cost optimization opportunities
- Excellent communication skills to convey cost optimization recommendations and insights to various stakeholders
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with a focus on achieving cost-efficiency goals within AWS
Good to Have:
- Relevant certifications (e.g., The FinOps Certified Practitioner) and/or AWS (CCP, SAA)
